Matthew MacLeod

Hello!

I'm Matt, a Scottish software engineer based in London.

I'm the Head of Software at Dexory and I work on autonomous robots.

About Me

I'm a full-stack engineer with over 15 years of experience. I've worked in industries including robotics, publishing, academic research, and visual design.

I was the first engineering hire at Dexory in 2018—having started work on the project with the founders in 2014—and as the head of software I oversee the development of all software running on our robots and other systems.

I have experience with a wide variety of environments – my main toolset at the moment is Go, along with React, TypeScript, and SCSS for web frontends. I also have extensive knowledge of Ruby and Rails, Java, C++, and Objective C.

Before working as an engineer, I was a graphic designer – this has given me a particular appreciation for building software that is both functional and beautiful.

Previously, I have been the UI lead at Altmetric, an application engineer at Digital Science, Technical Director at tictoc, and the Creative Director at both The Skinny and Fest magazines, as well as a number of other roles.

If I'm not writing software, I'm probably in the kitchen. You can visit myrecipe book for details on what I might be cooking.
